This 1950s inspired velvet half hat is totally hand made with care in our Tilly Ellen studio. The base is hand blocked on a vintage hat block before it is covered back and front in a layer of wadding. Black silk velvet and silk lining is then added to the block and allowed to dry. These quality fabrics are carefully hand stitched to the base. Black feather poms are stitched in place so that they follow the lines of the face and the ends are encased in a pleated velvet cocoon. Can be worn with feathers facing up or down.
Secured to the head with an easy to hide millinery elastic that can be hidden under the hair.

All of our headwear is made individually by hand using traditional millinery techniques, such as blocking. Each one is made to the highest possible standard, and when treated with care, should last you generations.
